Is this a nest or what?

We tend to think that the or what may be more accurate. Ferns grow out from the perimeter of this mass perched so high in the tree. This mass appears to on the side of a big branch. A bird would build it nest in a place where there is better support such as a crotch where branches come together so there would be at least two branches supporting the nest.

Mechanical Erosion At Work

Here is a text-book example of mechanical erosion. This is where the plant breaks a rock apart by working its way into a crack then growing larger and splitting the rock apart.
