Owen and Pat enjoy the trip to the outer reef.

The trip to the outer reef from the Mirage Marina at Port Douglas spans about an hour and a half.

At last we arrive just before 11AM, and it's time to swim.

Pat and Owen wait their turn on the swim platform behind the woman preparing to slide into the water on the left. The lycra suits were provided to ward off any bites by little stingy creatures.

Companies taking swimmers to the reef have permits for specific dive sites and are allowed to place moorings at those sites so that the reef is not damaged by anchors repeatedly dropped.
