Tour Day Four: Tuesday, April 24, 2001

We Enter The Gate Of The Ju Yong Guan Pass Access Area.

This access area was so newly opened that Renee Ho, our Pacific Delight American guide, who had been to the Great Wall the previous month, had not seen this area.

We Proceed Toward The Stairway That Will Take Us Into The Complex.

We didn't think about it until much, much later what we were actually in at this point. It became obvious after we had visited the Xi'an City Wall that this entry to the Great Wall was patterned after the "fish bowl" traps that were built into the gate areas.

The stairway at left center gives access to the wall.
Restroom facilities are in the building behind the little blue booth on the right.
This is mentioned only to illustrate that it isn't easy to get there from anywhere.
