Islands in the Adriatic Sea

Following is an excerp from a quote by Rick Steves, well-known European travel expert:
Sept. 13, 2005 — Sunny beaches, succulent seafood and a taste of "la dolce vita"…in Eastern Europe? Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast — the southern third of the country’s coastline — is Eastern Europe’s Riviera and the medieval city of Dubrovnik is the jewel in its crown.

Some visitors still associate Croatia with the tough Communist years (when it was part of Yugoslavia) and others are scared off because of the war with Serbia in the 1990s. But today, savvy tourists have returned in droves. Croatia feels a little like Italy, but with an easygoing attitude. And the port of Dubrovnik is a living fairytale that shouldn’t be missed.

Rotterdam turns to back into parking place at dock.

The modern city of Dubrovnik hugs the hillsides.

Sightseeing starts early for Rotterdam passengers. It was only 7:13 AM when this pictures was taken. We had finished breakfast (room service on days that we are in port), met our tour group in the lounge. We've been stickered with little colored circles indicating the tour we have selected. Pat stopped on the way to the bus to snap this picture of the glassy water of the harbor with the Rotterdam stern nudging the edge.

Before we move into the city, we'll see a few pictures of the Meyer's arrival 10 days later and a little later in the morning.
