The George Inn

The George Inn at Norton St. Philip has been an Inn for over 700 years and is one of the oldest in the country. It was purpose built to accommodate travelers and merchants coming to the annual wool fairs that were held in the village from the late 13th century until 1902.
The building dates to 1223, probably built by monks to live in during the building of the Priory.
This is where we had lunch.

The style of this ancient inn is like much of what we saw
throughout the drive through the Cotswold Hills which included Bath and
Stratford Upon Avon, yet to come on our photo tour.
