We look northeast to see the Jasper townsite, the Athabasca River, the railroad tracks, and the highway leading northeast across the mountains and eventually to Edmonton. Edmonton, on the prairie, is the home of the West Edmonton Mall, the largest mall and indoor entertainment complex in the world.

Looking north, the landscape is filled with glacial scars. Some of the scars were undoubtedly where huge ice boulders remained after the glacier melted and formed lakes in the depressions they left behind.

Looking southeast, the glacially braided Athabasca River wends its way northeastward toward the mountain pass that it created and the Alberta prairie beyond.

Looking northwest the railroad and the highway heads for Yellowhead Pass, the British Columbia provincial boundary and the Jasper National Park Boundary. These communication links connect with the west coast.
