Lake Louise
Trip Day Fourteen: June 25, 2000
Lake Louise

Lake Louise

This is undoubtedly the most famous location in all of the Canadian Rockies. The typical picture is taken from the air showing the Chateau Louise in the foreground with the lake and the glaciers in the background. Our only vantage point was on the shoreline where it is not nearly as spectacular.

The color was green.

Perhaps one must be able to look down on the water to see the turquoise color, but it looked green from where we were. The building and dock in the left-center of this picture is the canoe rental concession.

Our thanks to David Griffith for the Java Applet that puts the ripple in the lake.
