Culebra Range of the Rocky Mountains east of San Luis
in South Central Colorado
When entering the town from the south, you may find it necessary to stop and enjoy
the unobstructed view of the Culebra mountains to the east of Highway 159. You may
then notice that even though you've been traveling in a valley with mountains in the
distance, the altitude is 7965 feet in San Luis.

From Red River we drove west to Questa,
then north about 30 miles to San Luis, Colorado.
San Luis claims to be the oldest settlement in Colorado.
When in San Luis, be sure to stop in Fabian's Café, say hello, and be sure
to sample his southwestern cuisine. He prepares it with no grease! Fabian,
a San Luis native, returned home after 30 years in Orange County, California.
