After a sumptuous breakfast provided by Anne, our hostess at the Carriage House Bed & Breakfast in Las Vegas, New Mexico, we were on the road at 8:30 AM. We almost had the Interstate to our selves until we arrived in Raton and met a short bit of highway construction as we approached Raton Pass.

The Rocky Mountain East Front Range

The Rockies aren't the towering peaks that might be expected in the Trinidad area.

We stopped at the Colorado State Tourist Welcome Center in Trinidad to pick up a new road map. There were a lot of 1940 Fords stopped for gas next door. Of course we had to stop and visit to find out what was going on. IT was a cavalcade from Minnesota touring and having a great time on their way to an Antique Ford meeting in Anaheim, California.
