The Intercoastal waterway is in the middle ground.

The intercoastal waterway connects into Port Everglade.
That is where the cruise ships dock.

Star Princess, @ 109,000 tons, one of Princess Cruises largest new ships is embarking passengers.
We'll see her again soon as she sails away. She is probably starting a transatlantic
voyage, repositioning for European cruises this summer.

There is more to this busy port just out of our view. They have planned well to make everything convenient for the tourist industry here. Airport, hotels, restaurants, and port are all close together, within a 3-mile radius.
