We were headed for Salmon, ID. To get there from Lewiston, the shortest way is to follow the Clearwater River east to the Bitterroot Mountains that form the Idaho - Montana border. We will cross the mountains and go south through the Bitterroot Valley and recross the Bitterroots to into Idaho. Highways 12 and 95 split right about where these pictures were taken.
We were so busy looking at this river and the hills above it that we missed our turn! Not until the wrong road turned south and came to an unexpected town did we realize ...
