North Woods Loop

Day 16: Tuesday August 28, 2001

Berlin
New Hampshire

After the Mt. Washington excursion, we decided to drive the north woods loop along the Androscoggin River. Our host, Bob Corrigan said that moose were often seen along the road in that area. We hadn't seen any on this trip, so it seemed a good way to spend an afternoon.

Our pictures begin at 11:55 AM in Berlin, 7 miles northwest of Gorham.

We never did learn the origin or purpose of the log piles in the middle of the river.
They made a track down the middle of the river and were fairly evenly spaced. They didn't seem the work of beavers, not even giant beavers.
