Western Olympic Peninsula
Trip Day Twenty-one, May 24th, 2006
|
The Drive to Lake Quinault
US - 101 West of Port Angeles
Our plans had been to stay in Port Angeles and explore the Olympic National Park for ½ day.
But that wasn't to be. Our destination this day would be Lake Quinault, in the Olympic
National Forest at the southwest edge of the part, 125 miles away.
The weather closed in quickly as we disembarked the ferry.
And we almost had the road to ourselves.
Lake Crescent
Lake Crescent, 25 miles west of Port Angeles is not to be confused with Crescent Lake.
Crescent Lake, our map tells us is on the slopes of Mount Rainier. So, if you are
hiking and need assistance, be sure you specify which of the lakes named
Crescent is your actual location.
