Victoria's Cottage
Trip Day Nineteen: June 30, 2000

Victoria's Cottage is what looks like an addition to the house, with the double glass doors next to the curved window wall.
I know it looks crooked!
The walls really are plumb. And the deck is level, but in the picture, the left wall of Victoria's Cottage and the curved window wall look as if they are leaning toward one another. I can't explain it.

Our Hosts,
Bonnie & David Schmidt
These are the people who are behind this incredible little hide-away that received our vote for the
best accommodations of the whole trip! These wonderful people have equipped the cottage above and beyond
what is considered luxurious for a rental, or bed & breakfast.
Although they do not consider the cottage a bed & breakfast, a genie (named Bonnie) brought us a tray of goodies and left it on the deck outside the door. The kitchen is supplied with popcorn, a variety of teas and coffees and other snacks.

Sea Horses Light the Way
as they decorate the bedroom bureau. Members of the sea shell collection perch here and there to make their surroundings more interesting.
A row of houses along the river bank was once occupied by members of the construction crew that built the dam.
Some were one-bedroom cottages, and others had two-bedrooms. They were assigned according to the worker's rank,
and family size was immaterial. Somewhere along the way someone bought two of the houses, connected them, and
added that wonderful oval room and deck to the back of the new enlarged house. Victoria's Cottage was connected, but
still able to left separate, so that with the door shut and locked, it is not a part of the larger house.

Victoria's Cottage is on the river bank.
The big tree in the left side of the drawn circle, is the big tree behind Victoria's Cottage.
The center-left side of the arc goes through the middle of David Schmidt's vegetable garden.
