| Port: San Francisco Sausalito & Muir Woods Across the bay, San Francisco is known for its charming towns and beautiful landscape. Explore the postcard-perfect Sausalito and visit the towering redwood trees of Muir Woods. WHAT YOU VISIT Sausalito – Located north of San Francisco, this charming town is an artist's colony with a Mediterranean flair. Once a rumrunner's port, Sausalito hugs the hills above San Francisco Bay. You’ll have time to enjoy the bay views and browse at the boutiques, art galleries, and arts & craft shops along the charming waterfront. Muir Woods – This 550-acre National Monument is home to the Coastal Redwoods, some of the tallest and oldest trees in the world. The National Parks Department does not allow for guided tours through the forest as not to disturb the environment and picturesque serenity. Maps will be distributed and you will have 1 1/2 hours to independently explore the park and some of its many trails. PHOTO OPPORTUNITY Vista Point - Enjoy a panoramic view of San Francisco’s bay on the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge. WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY Your scenic drive begins as you travel west by Pier 39, lively Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghirardelli Square and the Cannery. Then your drive continues along the Marina District and by the Palace of the Legion of Honor, San Francisco’s best fine arts museum, and the Presidio. You will continue to drive north over the Golden Gate Bridge for a brief photo stop at Vista Point. Then it’s off to Sausalito where you can explore this quaint little town on your own, visiting art galleries, and arts and crafts stores. After your visit here, your drive continues through the Mill Valley region and onto the winding roads of the Marin Headlands, en route to the redwood forest of Muir Woods. On the return drive, you will travel along non-winding, lower end of Lombard Street before rejoining your Princess ship. SPECIAL NOTES Order of tour stops and scenic drive may vary to avoid traffic and congestion. This tour is not available on voyages embarking or disembarking in San Francisco. |
