Kurangee

Known as Kurangee by Aborigines for thousands of years, it was renamed Cape Tribulation by James Cook.

This is where the explorer's tribulations or troubles began when he tried to leave the shallow waters of the Australian coast and go out to sea. The Great Barrier Reef, just off the coast, is like a string of underwater islands of varying sizes that have not quite reached the surface of the sea. The great navigator found them impossible to get through with his fleet of sailing ships.
