We Tour The Opera House
At The End Of A Peninsula
After checking into the hotel, we went to George Street and caught the bus to the Circular Quay.
It was just a short walk from there to the Opera House.

The meeting place is on ground level, sort of in the basement.
We went up the stairs to buy the tickets for the tour.
Then down the stairs to the meeting place.

You don't build an important building on ground level.
You elevate it a great deal so everyone must look up to it, and climb a lot of stairs to enter.
This Forecourt is used for outdoor events with the granit stairs used for seating.

The Colonnade
Side Entry Gives Access to Several Venues.
There are eight venues in all: The Concert Hall is the largest space and is designed for acoustic performances and an audience of over 2600.
The Opera Theater is a procenium arch lyric theater with an orchestra pit and seating for 1500.
The Drama Theater is a medium sized proscenium arch theatre and seats 544.
Originally designed for chamber orchestra recitals The Playhouse was adapted to additionally accommodate theatrical productions with seating of just under 400. The Studio is a contemporary performing arts venue featuring flexible seating banks or cabaret-style seating. The Utzon Room is a multi-purpose venue with quality acoustics suitable for a range of events from performances to functions and events. The Forecourt is a spectacular open-air venue with breathtaking harbor views. And they can even accommodate recording sessions in the Recording Studio.
