The Forest
This is Oldman, our naturalist-guide for the walk through the cloud forest.
These guides are well worth their pay. They know every plant, how it grows, and
why it is as it is. The picture on the left is a tree trunk covered in moss. In a
cloud forest, the plants must gather moisture form the cloud the usually blankets
the area. This moss has a lot of surface area exposed to the cloud to collect the
moisture. It then condenses and drips to the ground. Under the canopy, the effect
is the same as a light rain. This goes on almost all of the time.
