Aberdeen Houseboats, Hong Kong Island

People have lived their lives on boats like these without coming ashore for more than a century. Our tour director, Renee Ho served as our Hong Kong guide, and she said the government has been encouraging these people to come ashore to live, so their children can go to school. We saw no families living on these boats. In fact, we saw very few people on the boats at all.

Only the larger boats seemed that they might be homes.
