The Jade Center
Tour Day Eight: Saturday, April 28, 2001
Craftsmen shape and polish the delicate jade.
Silk Rugs For Sale.
These were not of the best quality. They are way out of reach in price for all but the most serious shoppers. Pat had to take a look at them anyway.

Pink Jade
An Apple A Day ... But it didn't. The pollution in Xi'an made Pat cough incessantly.
Taking a prescription cough medicine brought along just-in-case, was not the thing to do in morning before a sightseeing trip. She nearly fell over, asleep standing up, at one of the museums yesterday. Ended up with a persistant case of bronchitis. But the prized apple sits on a display shelf at home.

This Looks Like Jade!
And it is. However it is not museum quality. But it will be fun to wear occasionly.

Silk Rug & Cloisonne Urn
Our dining room really needed this little silk rug. The colors compliment a painting and upholstry of an antique chair. And the black background and peach-colored flowers on the urn just blend with it too. I think this little rug — mat really — found a home.
Suggestion: If you buy one of these rugs, don't let them fold it for you. The crease marks may never completely disappear. Instead roll it around a piece of clothing to put it in your suitcase. Or have them roll it and ship it to you at home.
