First Sight

The armies or Pit No. 1 stand in formation in their underground battlefield.

They have an idea of how far these lines of troops actually go. They cover a huge area — much larger than what is being excavated in this large protective building.

Another Angle

We're standing beside the front ranks of the army looking along the lineup of the leaders.

The sign said no photographs. But the guards didn't seem to take notice as long as you weren't shooting right in front of their noses.

We read about this amazing archaeological find in National Geographic some years ago. Now, we are actually here! And met one of the men who made the discovery!!

The word "amazing" is over used by far. But this is TRULY AMAZING!!!

An Observation Platform

Unfortunately, it was not open at the time we were there. Undoubtedly the platform was built for VIPs or official photographers. To bad tourists aren't allowed access.
