Wildlife in the park is not sparse, but there are so many miles for them
to roam, that any seen should be appreciated. The spruce trees in the
photos at left are several hundered years old, according to our guide.
The harsh climate stunts the growth of plants. These, actually, are very
nice specimens. Many of the trees in unprotected areas are truly stunted.
We saw a lot of wildlife on the tour, but most were either not within range
of the Kodak Advantix camera's 3x zoom, or the angle was not right to catch
them out of the bus window. Therefore, only the carabou was worth the snap.
Owen captured many more on our digital camcorder.
