Athabasca Glacier Tour
Trip Day Sixteen: June 27, 2000
Everybody Out!
Get a feel for what it's like to walk on a glacier — albiet, a carefully groomed glacier. It does feel just like crunchy snow with big crystals. But, after all, this is probably last winter's snow on top of the glacier. The ice will be burried under the snow from many winters.

Melt Water
This ditch formed the boundary, past which we were not to venture. Out there was the glacier that had not been surveyed for safety. They said this was the purest water in the world! Everybody that remembered to bring a cup had a taste. We didn't, but I had a taste anyway. It was good.

Our Hawaiian friends try the water and take pictures.

Some are loading up to go back to the Icefields Center.
