San Francisco
Trip Day Four: Tuesday, September 25, 2007
|
Entry Into San Francisco Bay
Mist rises off the water in the morning sun
along the Northern Shorleine in Marin County.
Owen catches a glimplse of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in the distance as we near the Golden Gate. This is the bridge that was severed by the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. Emergency repairs were made quickly to regain the use of this important traffic artery. Work is continuing on the eastern span
replacement. The new eastern span in scheduled to open for traffic in 2013.
