Work going on here.

It hadn't been long since the ski lifts were busy carrying skiers up the hill, but the quiet streets, the cones and signs suggest, this was definitely the off season in Vail. The main activity centered around maintenance and repair. The only people we saw on the streets were workers going about their collective business. Eventually we happened upon a shop with its door open and proprietor in place. She directed us to the restaurant that was open to serve the workers. The burning logs in the fireplace made the place cozy, and that hamburger and stein of beer was perfect.

Our bellies were full, and we had glimpsed the famous ski town,
so it was time to get back on the road.
