Spruce Tree House

Spruce Tree House is the third largest cliff dwelling among several hundred within the park boundaries. It was constructed between 1200 and 1276 C.E. by the Anasazi.

The cliff dwelling was first reported in 1888, when two local ranchers chanced upon it while searching for stray cattle. The site was strewn with bricks that had come loose from the walls. The walls have been stabilized and reinforced, but not rebuilt. As a result, Spruce Tree House is approximately 95% original.
