Summit North Of Wallace, Idaho More challenging than the Thompson Pass road, ID-456 crosses the Coeur d'Alene Mountains north of Wallace. You turn onto this road at Eagle, three miles west of Murray on Forest Highway 9, the site of the first gold rush camp in the area and Wyatt Earp's 1884 tent saloon.

Abandoned Silver Mine This old mine is just outside of Wallace on Highway 456. Old Tram Car Under Silver Dollar Once an ore car, today its load is no more that a carload of pansies.

Historic Wallace The city has a most colorful past and a history tthat dates back over 100 years. The city of Wallace is also one of the few cities in the United States to be totally included in the National Historic Register.
