The Lava Beds
South of Ketchum, Idaho
Trip Day Twenty-four: July 5, 2000
Much of Idaho and Eastern Washington is covered with lava beds hundreds of feet thick.
We didn't take time to drive the 45 miles to Craters of the Moon National Monument,
but these lava flows were right next to Idaho State Highway 75 near US-20.

Plants Getting Started
I don't know how old this lava flow is, but plants are just getting rooted in this area.
