Grand Manan Island

Marina, North Head

Day 19: Friday August 31, 2001

Purse Seine Boats

Two boats work as a team. The little boat holds the lines at one end of the seine (big net) as the large one, with the other end, surrounds the fish. The little boat lets go of the lines when the fish are surrounded, and the seine is winched aboard the larger boat.

It's A Working Fleet In This Marina.

At about 10 AM we decided to take a walk down to the marina in spite of the wind.
At first, we were nearly blown off the bluff outside the Compass Rose, but we soon got our sea legs and were able to walk without much difficulty.
