Red River Country, New Mexico

The silver mining activity in this area occured about a century ago.
It takes Mother Earth a long time to recover from human activity.
Notice the yellow earth in the foreground above. That is left-over slag.
Small trees are just getting started in the old slush basin again.
Sometimes the scars are too deep for any recovery at all.
Folks, these cabins are way, way back in the mountains.
It's an arduous trip in a modern off-road vehicle.
We must wonder how these people got supplies in and ore out.
Do you suppose the town of Red River even existed in those days?
