Lockport, New York
Day 12 of Nova Scotia trip Friday, August 24, 2001
This is the house next door — 28 Spalding St. It is only interesting to us because, Grandfather John Howard Harris was a roomer in that house when he met Mary.
His room was on the 3rd floor.
Mary had the upstairs room on the adjacent side of the Pettit home.
According to Mary, many years later, they got interested by
seeing each other across the space between the houses in the windows.
They married, and it lasted until she died in 1987, in Long Beach, California.
Their marriage lasted for 75 years! John lived to the ripe old age of 102!
Here's a Spalding Street neighboring house.
That's just to get a bit more flavor of the neighborhood.
After a nostalgic look at the home of my forebearers it was time to move on
toward Utica, to be our home for this night.
