A Glimpse of the Erie Canal

3:07 PM: We didn't have to walk far from Best Western Gateway Adirondack Inn
to see the Erie Canal.

Maintenance Pond

The canal cannot continue to function without regular maintenance to keep the channel open.
This is one base for the maintenance crews.

Utica is a gateway to the Adirondack Mountains. Tomorrow we will drive through the mountains
to Lake Placid, the home of two of the Winter Olympics.
