This statue graces the front portico, greeting guests as they arrive at The Breakers.

Here's a link to The Breakers including some interior shots.

The photos are of the north and south sides of the house, respectively. Special landscaping graces each side of the building.

Even the children had a fabulous house in which to while away their days.
The columns on this front porch are reminiscent of the
Porch of Maidens of the Erechtheion at the Acropolis of Athens.

Here's the beautiful wrought-iron gate of The Breakers, and it's time for us to move on to Hammersmith Farm.

If you'd like to take a look at another Vanderbilt palace, here's a link to our pictures taken at younger brother, George Washington Vanderbilt's Biltmore Estate in Ashville, North Carolina.

Unfortunately, the management at almost all of these places forbid pictures taken inside.
