Texas

The state of Texas is a vast region.
  • If you stand in El Paso, your are much closer to Los Angeles than you are to the other side of Texas.
  • If you stand at the eastern side of Texas, you are much closer to Tampa than you are to El Paso.
  • If you stand in the Panhandle, you are closer to Bismark, North Dakota, than you are to Brownsville.
  • And remember, if you stand on the bridge at Brownsville, you are 801 miles from the edge of the Panhandle, but only 475 miles from Mexico City and 690 miles from the Yucatàn.

Pictures from selected locations in Texas.

Granbury, Texas
Granbury

In November 2003 we moved to Granbury, which is just a few miles southwest of Ft. Worth. Here is the collection of pictures of our new home town and the surrounding region. We are adding to this collection, so please check back from time to time.

Texas Hill Country
Hill Country

Fredericksburg in The Texas Hill Country is the city most visited by Texans. We decided to join friends, Ernst & Gertrude Meyer of Largo, Florida for a drive through this area west of Austin. This photo collection is a selection from among those taken by both couples on that drive, which included Bandera, Fredericksburg, & Kerrville.

Odessa, Texas
Odessa

Odessa was our home for nearly 30 years. We loved the city and the people who live there. Although we have displayed pictures from many places on this Web site, it wasn't until a viewer suggested that we should include the home town, that we began to collect pictures with that in mind. Here's a small collection.

San Antonio, Texas
San Antonio

San Antonio is the city in Texas most visited by tourists. We decided to join friends, Ernst & Gertrude Meyer of Largo, Florida for a weekend in this tourist mecca. This photo collection is a selection from among those taken by both couples on that weekend.

Texas State Railroad
Texas RR

Take a virtual ride on the Texas State Railroad. With stations in Palestine and Rusk, the train operates in the piney woods of East Texas on most weekends throughout the year. Our round-trip excursion was about 3 hours long, and we were able to watch the locomotive rotated on a turntable for the return trip.

Waxahachie, Texas
Waxahachie

Located on I-35 East about 27 miles south of Dallas, Waxahachie is blessed with fertile soil, and has been an important agricultural, commercial, educational, and transportation center in the north-central Texas since it was founded in 1850. Pronounced Wahks-ah-hachie, the name is a Native American word meaning Buffalo Creek. .
