Boulder, At Last!
We've been over the ridge in the Hells Backbone area, that's where the road snakes over a winding ridge that is only wide enough for the road. There are no guard rails — there's no room to plant the posts for a guard rail! Chasms lie below the road on both sides. The map says Hells Backbone is about 15 miles from the highway. I wonder what they call what I just described.

The village of Boulder is in the green patch at the center-right of the picture.
We're descending the hill into an oasis where we will seek lodging for the night.
We have come 70 miles from Bryce Canyon through some very wild and majestic country. Don't try this drive at night.
