We saw no lines entering the park from the east. In fact, we hardly noticed when we left the park.

The main difference between park lands and private lands was, of course, the homes and farms that occupied any arable land that was available.

Even in the remotest areas of the state, whenever they could get water in a valley, there would be some irrigated farms. These may be separated from "civilization" by the most rugged lands imaginable. The people of Utah seem to use their state to the upmost advantage, that is, the 60% not under federal control as park lands or other reserved areas. These are not what we consider some of the remotest areas we visited. Those are yet to come.
