Arrival at Dunedin, New Zealand
Trip Day Twenty-eight: Saturday, October 20, 2007
|
Port Chalmers
View From Horizon Court Buffet
The Horizon Court on deck 14 (actually it's 13, but that's another topic) doubles as a good observation lounge.
And it's doubly nice at breakfast time. At 7:13 AM, we were in no hurry.

This pier testifies to the local lumber industry.

A couple of freighters load nearby.

Views While Docking
Left: We spot a beautiful church perched on a nearby hill which is actually part of the wall of the crater of the old volcano. Right: We take some time to watch the operator of the huge crane move and place containers from the nearest freighter.
Our day trip at this port will be a scenic train ride on the Taieri Gorge Railway.
Those pictures follow. The Taieri Gorge scenery is different from that of the Arthur's Pass National Park that we visited from Christchurch and it's port, Lyttelton.
