Mariner's Haven B&B on Race Point Rd., Campbell River
Race Point
The current races at the 90° turn into Seymour Narrows which separates Quadra Island on the right from Vancouver Island on the left. This was described in the late 1700s by
Captain George Vancouver as, one of the vilest stretches of water in the world. At that time,
Ripple Rock lurked just below the surface and pierced the hulls of numerous vessels with its pair of sharp canine-like peaks. It wasn't until 1958 that they were able to demolish the rock.

What a View!
This cove is 2nd or 3rd door away.
We had reservations about a ½ mile down Race Point Rd. at Silky's B&B.
When we got there, there was a sign on the door that she wasn't going to honor our
reservation and to go to her neighbor's house. We really
didn't know what to think about this. One doesn't just go knocking on doors asking
to spend the night. This proved to be another B&B, the Mariner's Haven.
But we hadn't researched this place and had no idea of what to expect.
Things had been a bit flakey during the reservation process. E-mails and Faxes went unacknowledged and unanswered by Silky. And there was no communication while we were on the road even though we took the laptop and checked e-mail daily. So, we couldn't have been more fortunate. Our hosts Bob Deeley and his wife, artist Lynda Jamieson (You'll meet them later.) were just wonderful and our room most comfortable. Lynda cooked up two great breakfasts, and as you can see,
