More than 100 years old, New Mexico Highlands University
maintains original architectural elements and Depression-era murals.

Tree Beryl

While Pat was chasing interesting campus elements for photographs, Owen noticed a shade tree next to the parking lot with this large beryl. We love to have wooden objects made of beryled wood because the grain is so interesting. But how many of us have actually seen a beryl on a live tree? Well, here it is.

Adele Ilfeld Auditorium, completed in 1931

This auditorium is considered one of the architectural gems of the state. It is the best example of Romanesque Revival architecture in the area.
